At daggers drawn
Last week, Greg Dunn (https://gtdunn.com) posted an #oldknifechallenge shot and requested me to do the same. I immediately knew what I wanted to contribute: this Fairbairn-Sykes Combat Knife that belonged to my grandfather. Unfortunately, I don’t know where it came from before him but its markings and wear shows that it has been used.
Originally issued to British and Canadian soldiers in World War 2, the tool was purely a fighting knife through and through. The blade was designed to be long, extremely sharp at the point, and long enough to travel through heavy clothing.
This knife means a lot to me, and its character and history (at least what I know of it) will be passed down.
